Working for Elton John and Bernie Taupin

I had the immense privelege of working for Elton and Bernie as General Manager of Big Pig Music and Rocket Music.
I went on to become Senior VP of the Chrysalis publishing companies, Red Admiral, Moth Music and Rare Blue, which, rather than keep listing them named them the Chrysalis Music Group.
Have to say listening to songs after working for two of the finest songwriters in the world made listening to some rather hard.
During the period I worked for Elton and Bernie, and also Kiki Dee, in 74/75, Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy, Caribou, and Rock of The Westies were produced. And of course OrsonCarte wrote Kiki's and Elton's hit duet. Have to admit that OrsonCarte confused me for a bit!
Elton was a delight to work for. Bernie was much quieter and didn't visit the office so often.
Can you imagine Elton being Elton's publisher and his bringing you his songs to listen to and give my opinion? Well, he did me that honour.
Elton brought me the tape of the first mix of "Philadelphia Freedom", and asked me to take care as it was his/the only copy.
At that time tape and Revoxes were used. And I was able to splice, etc. When Elton returned for his tape and asked what I thought, I handed him some bits of tape lying around on my desk. His face was priceless, however, he could take a joke.
